The Adult CPR Algorithm provides guidelines for performing CPR on individuals aged eight years and older.
- Check Responsiveness: Tap and shout to see if the person responds.
- Call for Help: If unresponsive, call emergency services immediately.
- Assess Breathing and Pulse: Check for normal breathing and a pulse for no more than 10 seconds.
- Begin Chest Compressions: If no pulse, start high-quality chest compressions at a rate of 100-120 per minute.
- Airway and Breathing: Open the airway and provide rescue breaths after every 30 compressions.
Pediatric CPR Algorithm
The Pediatric CPR Algorithm is designed for children aged 1 to 8 years.
- Check Responsiveness and Breathing: Similar to adult CPR, but use age-appropriate techniques.
- Activate Emergency Response: Call for help or send someone to call.
- Begin CPR: Use one or two hands for compressions, depending on the child’s size.
